Icono-blast

Static notes with grave, polite interest the endorsement in today’s edition of The Lone Star Iconoclast of John Kerry for president. By the time Fort Worth Weekly hits your neighborhood rack, news of this endorsement probably will have been played on every tv news program that owns an extension cord. (For those who haven’t been paying attention: The Iconoclast is George W’s hometown paper. In Crawford. Texas. Out by the ranch where he does all that brush-cuttin’ and fence-jawin’ when the cameras are turned on.) Static therefore will limit itself to a single quote from said editorial: “What has evolved from the virtual go-it-alone conquest of Iraq is more gruesome than a stain on a White House intern’s dress. America’s reputation and influence in the world has diminished, leaving us with brute force as our most persuative voice.” Oh sharper than a serpent’s tooth is the hometown prose.
